The Help Group
From the site: "The Help Group, one of California's leading children's organizations, is a family of non-profit agencies dedicated to serving children, adolescents, young adults and families with a wide range of special needs related to autism, Asperger's Disorder, learning disabilities, emotional development, mental retardation, and abuse and neglect."

Early Education Center for Autism [San Diego county]
From the site: "The Early Education Center for Autism, LLC specializes in teaching young children with autism, PDD, and related developmental disorders. Our teaching procedure is closely modeled after the discrete-trial method, pioneered by O. Ivar Lovaas, Ph.D. Dr. Lovaas has dedicated more than 30 years to research and treatment of children with developmental disabilities, and extensive research supports the unparalleled efficacy of the discrete-trial teaching methodology."

TERI Residential Programs
From the site: "In 1980, TERI, Inc. was one of 13 agencies in California awarded grant monies to be part of a pilot project aimed at offering residential care under the ICF/DD-H (Intermediate Care Facility/Developmentally Disabled-Habilitative) Department of Health Services licensed model. We currently operate 9 homes in the North County area serving 54 adults and are in the process of opening a 10 th home for adolescent boys."

Pyramid Autism Center
From the site: "The Pyramid Autism Center (PAC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the Orange County autism community – with specific focus on children and their families. The PAC school utilizes the Pyramid Approach to Education developed by Dr. Andrew Bondy, a world-renowned leader in autism education and research. Whereas many approaches place an initial emphasis upon controlling the behavioral difficulties of these students, the Pyramid Approach grows out of a conviction that children are always ready to learn- the question is: are teachers ready to teach? Our emphasis is upon creating functional activities that stress the use of powerful and on-going reinforcement systems while assuring children can effectively communicate and understand what we expect of them. When such systems are in place, issues associated with behavior management can be effectively addressed. Our view also reflects that the key to long-term behavior management change is the development of alternative skills that serve the child’s needs."

Beacon Day School
From the site: "At Beacon Day School, we provide an educational and therapeutic environment for students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. To maximize development, we integrate educational services, behavioral management and therapy to help our students master the academic and vocational skills needed for independent living."

A Consumer Guide to the Mental Health Professions
Every year thousands of Californians visit professional psychologists, psychological assistants or registered psychologists for help in better understanding themselves and others and dealing with personal problems. If you think you may need to see one of these professionals, this information can help you. It will provide guidance for choosing a psychologist and explain what a psychologist should and should NOT do. It also will tell you what to do if you think your psychologist has broken the law or overstepped professional boundaries.... Licensed Educational Psychologists: LEPs work in schools and provide educational counseling services, such as aptitude testing. They can't do psychological testing that is not related to educational services, and they can't prescribe drugs. Master's degree required for license.
